Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos is leaving the teams current road trip to return to Tampa to have his injured right leg examined, the team confirmed Wednesday morning.The Lightning star left Tuesdays game in Detroit in the first period favoring his right leg after getting tangled up with Detroits Gustav Nyquist along the boards.Stamkos is scheduled to see the teams orthopedic doctor Wednesday afternoon.
